Description

Achieve the surprisingly big tone of a smaller classic 8″ speaker while enjoying a realistic playing feel with the Overloud Jensen Vintage Ceramic C8R, an impulse response (IR) library made for the TH-U SuperCabinet (available separately). Brought about through collaboration with a product specialist from Jensen Speakers, these 1152 carefully captured IRs yield the C8R Alnico’s signature tone and variations with punchier low-mid frequencies. Popular in home/student amps and prized for studio recording in Fender Champs, the C8R Alnico was used in two cabinets (1×8″ open-back and 1×8″ closed-back) for tonal variety in this library.

Detailed Source Capture
This is a systematic capture of a Jensen C8R Alnico speaker from the Vintage series, installed in two different cabinets (1×8″ open-backed and 1×8″ close-backed) in both original and remastered versions. The 1152 total IRs were developed in conjunction with a Jensen Speakers product specialist in order to recreate the most authentic playing experience, as if you were playing through an original speaker.
Ideal for Studio Recording
The C8R is a little gem in the Jensen Vintage series, delivering a solid compact tone that defies its size. Extremely versatile, it was originally designed for small home and student amplifiers; but with a microphone in front, it was soon discovered to be capable of transferring on tape some of the biggest tones ever. Not by chance, the vintage Fender Champ amplifiers loaded with the C8R are treasured by many players as great studio tools.
Two Cabs for Tonal Variety
To offer even more tonal options, Overloud captured the C8R not only in its correct vintage open-back, combo-style cabinet, but also in a custom-made, closed-back cab, to achieve even more punch in the low mids.
