NoiseWorks Enshape (Download)

Enshape: Transient Designer Plugin Without A Threshold

Shape the attack and sustain of vocals and instruments regardless of their volume. No threshold, so every note gets the same treatment across the whole track.

No threshold

Loud and quiet notes are shaped the same, from the first bar to the last.

Two envelopes

An input and a target envelope set what changes, not a level.

Compressor and expander

Lower or raise transients and sustain with the same controls.

Two Envelopes Instead Of A Threshold

Attack and Release of the input envelope (blue) describe how closely the original signal is captured. Attack and Release of the target envelope (yellow) set the adjustment. Longer attack values reduce the transient, longer release values bring out sustain and release. Mix blends the result with the original.

Every Hit Shaped The Same, At Any Level

A compressor only reacts above its threshold, so quiet notes slip through untouched. Enshape compares two envelopes instead, so a soft phrase and a loud one get exactly the same treatment.

Lower the transientsSofter attacks, a smoother vocal.

Raise the transientsMore punch for drums and plucked notes.

Raise the sustainMore body and room in each note.

Lower the sustainTighter, drier hits.

Attack and Release, Input

How closely the original signal is followed.

Attack and Release, Target

The shape the signal is moved towards.

Mix

Blend between the shaped and the original signal.

Envelope limits

Minimum and maximum, for example to keep breaths out.
