These terms apply when you buy a license for an MMI plugin (or a bundle of them) from MannMade Solutions at mannmade.us. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where they differ for MMI plugins, these terms apply.
What you’re buying
Every MMI plugin is free software, licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later (GPL-2.0-or-later); a copy is in each plugin’s LICENSE.txt. What you pay for is a license key. While the key is active it gives you:
- the plugin’s features on the number of sites you chose (1, 5 or unlimited);
- new versions, delivered through WordPress’s own Updates screen;
- support by email through our contact page.
The GPL gives you the rights it describes over the code itself. It doesn’t entitle you to license keys, updates or support from us; those come only with a paid, active license.
Sites and activation
A license covers the number of sites (domains) shown on your order. You activate a site by entering the key in the plugin’s License panel on that site, or from My Account → Licenses. You can deactivate a site there at any time to move the license to another one. Development and staging copies of a licensed site count as separate sites unless we’ve agreed otherwise.
Term, renewal and expiry
A license is a yearly subscription. It renews automatically each year, charging the payment method on file the price shown at the time, until you cancel it from My Account → Subscriptions. If you cancel, the license keeps working until the end of the year you’ve paid for and then expires.
When a license expires, the plugin keeps working for 14 more days; after that its licensed features stop until you renew, and it no longer receives updates. Your data and settings stay on your site. MMI Subscriptions is the exception: it keeps billing your existing subscribers, and only new sign-ups, plan changes and its admin screens stop.
Upgrades
From My Account → Licenses you can move a paid license to more sites, or into a bundle that includes its plugin. The price you pay that day is the new plan’s yearly price minus credit for the unused part of the year you’ve already paid for. The credit is applied only to that upgrade; it is never paid out or carried to another purchase. Once the upgrade payment goes through, your license key stays the same, your sites stay activated, the new plan starts a fresh year, and the old plan’s subscription ends. If the payment doesn’t go through, nothing changes. Free trials earn no credit, and an upgrade never starts or extends a trial.
Refunds
If an MMI plugin isn’t right for you, ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase through our contact page. When we refund an order, the license key it created is deactivated on every site; a refunded renewal takes back the year it added. For MMI plugins this replaces the exclusion for software downloads in our Refund and Returns Policy.
Information the plugins send us
To check your license, deliver updates and prevent misuse, a licensed MMI plugin contacts mannmade.us when it’s activated, when it checks for updates and periodically to confirm the license. Each request sends your license key, the site’s domain and address, the server’s IP address and a server fingerprint, the versions of PHP, WordPress and the plugin, and basic server details. We use this only for licensing, updates and support, and keep it with your license record. The plugins don’t send us your store’s orders, customers or content.
Warranty and liability
We build and run these plugins on our own store and fix problems we find, but they’re provided “as is”, as the GPL states, without warranty of any kind. Back up your site before installing or updating any plugin. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about a license is limited to the amount you paid for it.
Changes
We may update these terms. Changes apply to purchases and renewals made after the update; the version in force when you bought or last renewed applies to that license year.
