Description

The Jensen Vintage Alnico P15N IR Library for TH-U SuperCabinet from Overloud is a SuperCabinet IR library that captures the warm, full-bodied tones of the vintage Jensen P15N Alnico speaker in a 1×15 open-back cabinet configuration captured by 19 microphones for an impressive 608 total impulse responses. A speaker long respected for its deep bass and use in early classic amps like the Fender Bassman and Bandmaster, this IR library is a great choice for all shades of clean tone, from crystal-clear chime to overdriven bite.

The 19 mics were used to record in four different horizontal positions, two distances, and two angles for a total of 16 IRs each. When the tone may seem too bright for modern uses, Overloud includes a convenient remastered version of each IR, effectively doubling the number of available IRs, which utilize finely tuned top-end response for increased warmth in contemporary settings. Designed exclusively for the SuperCabinet IR processor, a program that makes it easy to blend and create custom cabinet tones and export IRs in WAV format for use in external IR loaders and modelers, the Jensen Vintage Alnico P15N IR Library is an ideal choice for those seeking big, warm vintage tone in a versatile and affordable package.

Note:

This IR library requires that you own TH-U SuperCabinet.

Classic Full-Bodied Warmth
This is a systematic capture of a Jensen Vintage Alnico P15N speaker, from the Vintage Series, installed in a 1×15″ open-back enclosure, for a total of 608 IRs. This library was developed in conjunction with a Jensen Speakers product specialist, in order to recreate the most authentic playing experience, as if you were playing an original speaker.

One of the first speakers ever used in a guitar amplifier, the P15N was loaded in the earliest Fender Bassman and Bandmaster amps, setting the milestone for those classic tones. The P15N delivers a warm, full-bodied tone, with deep basses, and a nice, extended top end. Excellent for all different shades of clean and pushed clean tones and captured in the classic 19-microphone 16-position Overloud process.

Includes Original and Remastered Versions
This library includes the remastered version of all the IRs. The vintage Jensen speakers were designed mainly for clean tones. The maximum overdrive achievable back in those days was generated by the amplifier’s natural clipping and compression and by some of the earlier fuzz pedals. Those speakers were voiced for a sparkly, shimmering treble response, with a remarkable amount of energy over 6 kHz, to be coupled with the warm-sounding circuits and the thin resonant cabinets of the era. The IRs of the Vintage Jensen Speakers behave exactly as expected: bright, clear, and detailed.

In the modern world, especially with high-gain tones that are naturally very rich in harmonic overtones, all this energy in the treble range may occasionally turn iton an overly bright, aggressive tone. To further expand the possible applications of these historic speakers, Overloud decided to offer all the Vintage Jensen IRs also with a remastered option, where the top-end response is finely tuned to be warmer and less prominent, to make it more suitable for contemporary high-gain applications. This creates a sort of virtually aged tone that offers a whole new range of sounds for every application. All the IRs in the library are effectively doubled by the remastered version, opening up new possibilities to the player beyond the original hardware.
