Description

The Jensen Vintage Alnico P10Q IR Library for TH-U SuperCabinet from Overloud is a SuperCabinet IR library, which captures the bright, clear tones of the vintage Jensen P10Q 10″ Alnico speaker in configurations 1×10, 2×10, and 4×10, and captured by 18 microphones for an impressive 1152 total impulse responses. A speaker long respected for its harmonically rich response and shimmering treble qualities, this IR library is a great choice for either pristinely clean guitar tone or aggressive bite.

The 18 mics were used to record in four different horizontal positions, two distances, and two angles for a total of 16 IRs each. When the tone may seem too bright for modern uses, Overloud includes a convenient remastered version of each IR, effectively doubling the number of available IRs, which utilize finely tuned top-end response for increased warmth in more contemporary-style settings. Designed exclusively for the Supercabinet IR processor, a program which makes it easy to blend and create custom cabinet tones and export IRs in WAV format for use in external IR loaders and modelers, the Jensen Vintage Alnico P10Q IR Library is an ideal choice for those seeking sparkling vintage tone in a versatile and affordable package.

Note:

This IR Library requires that you own TH-U SuperCabinet.

Vintage Tone to Cut Through Your Mixes
The P10Q is the high powered 10″ Alnico in the Vintage Series, used in a handful of beautiful sounding amps such as the Tweed Super, Brownface Super, and many others. The P10Q has a fierce tone capable of great clarity and excellently detailed trebles and well supported by a rounded midrange and a warm full-bodied bass foundation.

From the smallest 1×10 up to the classic 2×10 and 4×10 configurations, the P10Q shines in open back cabinets that allow its wide frequency response to fill the room with a well-balanced harmonically rich response. The presence and cut that are typical of the best 10″ speakers are perfectly captured by the 18 microphone selections in the Overloud exclusive 16 position array.

Includes Original and Remastered Versions
This library also includes the remastered version of all the IRs. The vintage Jensen speakers were designed mainly for clean tones. The maximum overdrive achievable back in those days was generated by the amplifier’s natural clipping and compression and by some of the earlier fuzz pedals. Those speakers were voiced for sparkly, shimmering treble response, with a remarkable amount of energy well over 6 kHz, to be coupled with the warm sounding circuits and the thin, resonant cabinets of the era. The IRs of the Vintage Jensen Speakers behave exactly as expected: bright, clear, and detailed.

In the modern world, especially with high-gain tones that are naturally very rich in harmonic overtones, all this energy in the treble range may occasionally turn in an overly bright, aggressive tone.To further expand the possible applications of these historic speakers, Overloud decided to offer all the Vintage Jensen IRs also with a remastered option, where the top-end response is finely tuned to be warmer and less prominent to make it more suitable for contemporary higher gain applications. This creates a sort of virtually aged tone that offers a whole new range of sounds for every application. All the IRs in the library are effectively doubled by the remastered version, opening up new possibilities to the player beyond the original hardware.
