The Jensen Blackbird 10-40 IR Library for TH-U SuperCabinet from Overloud is a SuperCabinet IR library that captures the powerful and natural tones of the Jensen Blackbird 10″, 40W Alnico speaker in 1×10 and 2×10 open-back cabinet configurations captured by 19 microphones for a whopping 1216 total impulse responses. Featuring a speaker with an exclusive reinforced Alnico magnet and a copper-wound voice coil, this IR library is a great choice for dynamic vintage tone, which combines warm tight bass with classic sparkle and chime, suiting both clean sounds and modern high-gain applications equally well.

The 19 mics were used to record in four different horizontal positions, two distances, and two angles for a total of 16 IRs each. Designed exclusively for the SuperCabinet IR processor, a program which makes it easy to blend and create custom cabinet tones and export IRs in WAV format for use in external IR loaders and modelers, the Jensen Blackbird 10-40 IR Library is an ideal choice for those seeking solid, firm bass, open midrange, and airy detailed highs in a versatile and affordable package.

The Jensen Blackbird 10-40 IR library is designed exclusively for use with the TH-U SuperCabinet program, which can either be used as a standalone IR library or with the TH-U plug-in program. SuperCabinet allows you to:

  • Graphically browse the IRs in the library
  • Blend them together
  • Craft new cabinet tones with the unique multiband mode
  • Use the IR in the software
  • Export the IRs in WAV file format, compatible with software IR loaders and all the major hardware modelers
A New Speaker with a Vintage Voice
This is a systematic capture of a Jensen Blackbird 10″, 40W speaker, installed in two different enclosures:

  • 1×10″ open-back cabinet
  • 2×10″ open-back cabinet

The Blackbird 10-40 is a completely new 10”, 40W speaker, with a 1.25” copper-wound voice coil and the exclusive reinforced-alnico-magnet design that Jensen introduced with the highly successful Blackbird 12-40. The Jensen Blackbird 40 speakers brilliantly combine vintage dynamic sensitivity, upper midrange attack, and the openness of traditional alnico speakers, with a tighter bass foundation and a refined top end that suits even modern, higher-gain applications.

Every microphone has been moved to four different horizontal position (cap, cap edge, cone, and cone edge), two distances and two angles, for a total of 16 IRs each. All the measurements have been repeated for each cabinet in the library, and all IRs have been phase aligned, so they can be blended without phase cancellation.
