Description
The Cherry Audio Dreamsynth is a virtual synthesizer based on the sound engines from analog/digital hybrid synthesizers from the mid to late 1980s, including the Ensoniq ESQ-1, the Sequential Prophet VS, and the Kawai K series. Many of these hybrid synths featured an irresistible combination of precisely controlled digital oscillators with the powerful sound-sculpting capabilities of analog filtering, and the Dreamsynth recreates those distinct vintage tonalities with aplomb. The 3 dual-waveform oscillators effectively function as 6 oscillators and provide a wealth of authentic analog-sounding waveforms along with 430 sampled PCM waveforms. In addition, a fully polyphonic string synthesizer is also onboard; it’s completely independent from the oscillator-based synth, allowing you to layer and split it across the keyboard. A wealth of FX is also supplied, allowing you to further tweak the sound with distortion, phasing, flanging, chorus, delay, and reverb.
Dreamsynth Features at a Glance
- Three dual-waveform oscillators, amounting to six simultaneous virtual analog or PCM sample-based oscillators with up to 16 voices of polyphony
- Authentically modeled virtual analog waveforms, plus 430 looping, one-shot, and single-cycle PCM waveforms
- Fully polyphonic 16-voice string synthesizer, which can be layered and split across the keyboard independent of the primary synth
- OB-style 12 dB/octave multimode stereo filters
- Extensive and accessible modulation capabilities, with 20 mod sources and over 40 destinations, including effects
- Analog drift control for increased authenticity
- Three tempo-syncable LFOs
- Arpeggiator with tempo sync, independently assignable to the synth and string sections
- Fully modulatable effects include multiple distortion and sample-crushing options, a 12-stage phaser, chorus, flanger, rotary speaker effects, delay, and reverb, including Cherry Audio’s new Galactic reverb algorithm
- Polyphonic Aftertouch as a polyphonic modulation source
- Support for MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE)—Pitch, Channel Pressure, and Timbre—making Dreamsynth capable of more organic and expressive performances when using MPE-compatible controllers
- Highly optimized coding for optimal performance with ultralow CPU load
