Description

The Jensen Vintage Ceramic C15K IR Library for TH-U SuperCabinet from Overloud is a SuperCabinet IR library that captures the powerful tones of the vintage Jensen C15K ceramic speaker in a 1×15 open-back cabinet configuration, captured by 19 microphones for an impressive 608 total impulse responses. A contemporary version of the classic C15N, and noted for its incredibly full sounding tone, this IR library is a great choice for jazz, fusion, and roots rock styles.

The 19 mics were used to record in four different horizontal positions, two distances, and two angles for a total of 16 IRs each. When the tone may seem too bright for modern uses, Overloud includes a convenient remastered version of each IR, effectively doubling the number of available IRs, which utilize a finely tuned top-end response for increased warmth in contemporary settings. Designed exclusively for the SuperCabinet IR processor, a program which makes it easy to blend and create custom cabinet tones and export IRs in WAV format for use in external IR loaders and modelers, the Jensen Vintage Ceramic C15K IR Library is an ideal choice for those seeking fat basses, aggressive mids, and smooth, extended trebles in a versatile and affordable package.

Note:

This IR library requires that you own TH-U SuperCabinet.

Full, Rich Sounding Tone
This is a systematic capture of a Jensen Vintage Ceramic C15K speaker, from the Vintage Series, installed on a 1×15″ open-back enclosure, for a total of 608 IRs. This IR library was developed in conjunction with a Jensen Speakers product specialist, in order to recreate the most authentic playing experience, as if you were playing an original speaker.

The C15K is the contemporary version of the C15N and offers one of the fullest sounding tones in the entire range. With powerful basses, rich in the whole midrange and smooth and extended in the treble range, the C15K is a first choice for traditional jazz players, as well as for fusion and roots rock styles. Overloud’s proprietary capturing with 19 mics in 16 positions showcases the versatility of the C15K.

Includes Original and Remastered Versions
This library also includes the remastered version of all the IRs. The vintage Jensen speakers were designed mainly for clean tones. The maximum overdrive achievable back in those days was generated by the amplifier’s natural clipping and compression and by some of the earlier fuzz pedals. Those speakers were voiced for sparkly, shimmering treble response, with a remarkable amount of energy well over 6 kHz, to be coupled with the warm sounding circuits and the thin, resonant cabinets of the era. The IRs of the Vintage Jensen Speakers behave exactly as expected: bright, clear, and detailed.

In the modern world, especially with high-gain tones that are naturally very rich in harmonic overtones, all this energy in the treble range may occasionally turn in an overly bright, aggressive tone. To further expand the possible applications of these historic speakers, Overloud decided to offer all the Vintage Jensen IRs also with a remastered option, where the top-end response is finely tuned to be warmer and less prominent to make it more suitable for contemporary higher-gain applications. This creates a sort of virtually aged tone that offers a whole new range of sounds for every application. All of the IRs in the library are effectively doubled by the remastered version, opening up new possibilities to the player beyond the original hardware.
