Description

The Jensen Vintage Alnico P10R-F IR Library for TH-U SuperCabinet from Overloud is a SuperCabinet IR library that captures the ultrawarm tones of the vintage Jensen P10R-F alnico speaker in 1×10 and 2×10 open-back cabinet configurations, captured by 19 microphones for an impressive 1216 total impulse responses. A special-edition speaker based on the P10R and noted for its aged yet sweet sounding tone, this IR library is a great choice for a unique vintage-tinged sound.

The 19 mics were used to record in four different horizontal positions, two distances, and two angles for a total of 16 IRs each. While the tone may seem too bright for modern uses, Overloud includes a convenient remastered version of each IR, effectively doubling the number of available IRs, which utilize a finely tuned top-end response for increased warmth for more contemporary settings. Designed exclusively for the SuperCabinet IR processor, a program which makes it easy to blend and create custom cabinet tones and export IRs in WAV format for use in external IR loaders and modelers, the Jensen Vintage Alnico P10R-F IR Library is an ideal choice for those seeking subtle mellow tones and crunchy overdrive in a versatile and affordable package.

Note:

This IR library requires that you own TH-U SuperCabinet.
Made for The SuperCabinet
The Jensen Vintage Alnico P10R-F library is designed exclusively for use with the TH-U SuperCabinet program, which can either be used as a standalone IR library or with the TH-U plug-in program. SuperCabinet allows you to:

  • Blend them together
  • Craft new cabinet tones with the unique multiband mode
  • Use the IR in the software
  • Export the IRs in WAV-file format, compatible with software IR loaders and all the major hardware modelers
Unique Vintage Tone
This is a systematic capture of a Jensen Vintage Alnico P10R-F speaker, from the Vintage Series, installed in two different enclosures:

  • 1×10″ open-back cabinet
  • 2×10″ open-back cabinet

This setup produced a total of 1216 IRs, developed in conjunction with a Jensen Speakers product specialist, in order to recreate the most authentic playing experience, as if you were playing an original speaker.

Not strictly a reissue speaker, the P10R-F was born as a special edition of the P10R, developed in cooperation with Fender, for the Custom Shop ’57 BandMaster and the 20th Anniversary Vibro-King amps. By means of a different cone membrane, the P10R-F has a warmer, aged tone, and breaks up in a sweet, progressive manner. A very unique speaker for true tone connoiseurs, captured in two vintage-built cabinets by the typical array of 19 microphones in 16 positions.

Includes Original and Remastered Versions
This library also includes the remastered version of all the IRs. The vintage Jensen speakers were designed mainly for clean tones. The maximum overdrive achievable back in those days was generated by the amplifier’s natural clipping and compression and by some of the earlier fuzz pedals. Those speakers were voiced for sparkly, shimmering treble response, with a remarkable amount of energy well over 6 kHz, to be coupled with the warm sounding circuits and the thin, resonant cabinets of the era. The IRs of the Vintage Jensen Speakers behave exactly as expected: bright, clear, and detailed.

In the modern world, especially with high-gain tones that are naturally very rich in harmonic overtones, all this energy in the treble range may occasionally turn in an overly bright, aggressive tone. To further expand the possible applications of these historic speakers, Overloud decided to offer all the Vintage Jensen IRs also with a remastered option, where the top-end response is finely tuned to be warmer and less prominent to make it more suitable for contemporary higher gain applications. This creates a sort of virtually aged tone that offers a whole new range of sounds for every application. All the IRs in the library are effectively doubled by the remastered version, opening up new possibilities to the player beyond the original hardware.
