Description

From blues and rock to surf-pop, achieve the classic tone of the ’60s while enjoying a realistic playing feel with the Overloud Jensen Vintage Ceramic C10Q, an impulse response (IR) library made for the TH-U SuperCabinet (available separately). Brought about through collaboration with a product specialist from Jensen Speakers, these 1728 carefully captured IRs yield the C10Q’s signature tone—linear mids, tight bass, and nice breakup behavior. Widely found in classic Fender amps such as the Vibrolux and Vibroverb and also popular in Silvertone and Valco amplifiers, the C10Q Ceramic was used in three open-back cabinets (1×10, 2×10, and 4×10″) for tonal variety in this library.

Detailed Source Capture
This is a systematic capture of a Jensen C10Q Ceramic speaker, from the Vintage series, installed in three different open-back cabinets (1×10, 2×10, and 4×10″) in both original and remastered versions. The 1728 total IRs were developed in conjunction with a Jensen Speakers product specialist, in order to recreate the most authentic playing experience, as if you were playing through an original speaker.
Common in Classic Amps
Adopted primarily in the Fender Vibrolux and Vibroverb amps of the Brownface and Blackface era, the C10Q is a very easy-to-drive speaker that breaks up nicely with a straightforward, present character. It was also very common in many Silvertone and Valco amps.
The Sound of the ’60s
Its medium sensitivity value allows the player to push the amp louder than other, more efficient designs, to reach the amp’s sweet spot at a relatively lower sound pressure level. The midrange is organic and linear, and the bass is deeper and tighter than the R-style magnet models. A classic ’60s tone, from surf-clean to blues and rock ‘n’ roll.
