Rhodes Pianology (Download)

Intimate access to truly exceptional pianos

Introducing

Truly exceptional pianos have a magical way of shaping the music around them. From the expressive power and projection of a classic American concert grand, to the warmth and clarity of a Japanese acoustic upright, and the distinctive upfront voice of a Japanese vintage electric grand, each has its own unique history and musical identity. Experiences with instruments of this calibre are rare and seldom encountered outside renowned studios, concert halls, or collections.

Rhodes Pianology offers intimate access to a meticulously curated collection of three instruments rarely available to most players – instruments which have shaped the sound of countless recordings across genres and decades: a grand, upright and electric grand piano, each meticulously prepared, voiced, and sampled by the expert Rhodes engineering and sound-design team. The result is a collection that feels inspiring and truly alive beneath your fingers – rich in nuance, depth, and musical heritage.

Rhodes Pianology delivers an elegant, intuitive workflow that places sound and expression at the forefront. Whether you’re composing, recording, or performing, Pianology is a powerful environment for shaping classic piano tones with clarity, precision and deep expressivity.

User Interface

Pianology’s interface has been carefully designed for immediate playability and inspiration, offering a clean and elegant layout that prioritises clarity and speed. Every module is directly modelled from Rhodes’ flagship processing engines, delivering a comprehensive set of sound-shaping tools without unnecessary complexity.

Key global controls – including Timbre Shift, Global Tune, Mechanical Noise, and Lid Position (grand only) – allow precise adjustment of tonal response and acoustic realism. The Timbre Shift function can transform each piano into something wholly new – shaping a bright grand into something dark, moody, and ethereal; turning a studio-ready upright metallic and cutting; or softening a strident electric grand with warmth and mellow depth.

A dedicated Amp and Mic section provides access to classic amplifier models and microphone choices, offering everything from natural acoustic depth to characterful, amped tones.

• Three meticulously sampled pianos: American Grand, Japanese Upright, and Japanese Electric Grand
• Deep multi-sampling by the Rhodes sound-design team
• Timbre Shift for real-time re-voicing and tonal transformation

PRESETS AND WORKFLOW

A Pianology preset stores every visible control, allowing instant recall of complete sound setups and curation of your own unique piano library. Instruments can be switched independently of presets – enabling creative exploration without disrupting your workflow. For example, a preset designed on the Grand can be auditioned on the Upright with a single click.
